Colossians 2:6-15
We have seen the theme of growth more than once in this letter. (Once you have trained your mind to look for themes and repetition – you’ll find it everywhere.)
Because I have been thinking about spiritual growth – the word “rooted” in verse 7 jumped out at me.
Rooted and built up in Christ. It made me think of a tree 🌳.
There is growth that begins with being properly planted or rooted. This is growth that happens:
• privately
• underground
• invisible to the human eye
• in our quiet times
• early growth
• it’s our attitudes
• it’s Christ in us where no one sees
Then, as the roots are firmly planted and nourished – over time – we see the building up begin to take place. This is the growth that happens:
• publicly
• above ground
• visible to a watching world
• it is faith lived out
• it’s the fruit
• it’s our actions
• it’s Christ in us where everyone can see
To walk in him is to always be connected – always be seeking – always be clinging.
Always rooted in and built up in him.
Happy Saturday! You are loved.
It’s so true, and I was reminded of my own journey and growth. <3 (And now I have to make more coffee and get out my colored ERASABLE 🙂 pens because of your photo…) Happy Saturday to you too!
What is your favorite colored pen? Mine are drying out and I’m looking to try something new?
