I had a dream last night about someone I haven’t seen in years and it made me wake up with a heavy heart.
So, while I would love to draw out some deep spiritual surprises from this psalm, what stood out to me was simple. And simply comforting.
“We have thought on your steadfast love, O God” (vs 9.)
When my heart is heavy – I will think on God’s love for me.
When tears threaten to pour – I will think on God’s love for me.
When the emptiness within aches – I will think on God’s love for me.
When it takes effort to just do the next thing – I will think on God’s love for me.
I love that it says “think on.” Not think of. Not consider in passing. Not merely acknowledge.
Think on it. Meditate on it. Dwell on it. Take in the magnitude of the love God has for you.
You are loved.
