Psalm 17
In what (or whom) do we seek our satisfaction? That is the question that came to mind as I read today’s psalm.
There are those who find their satisfaction in their possessions and their children – the things of this life (vs 14.) But what happens when our satisfaction or self worth is tied up in earthly things?
👉 Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. Matthew 6:19
Things can be taken. People can leave. And, just like that, satisfaction or fulfillment slips through our fingers.
But, for those who find their satisfaction in God alone (vs 15), there is good news.
👉 Lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. Matthew 6:20
When all we want is God – no one can take it away. Our satisfaction doesn’t fade or wither. It doesn’t leave us or waste away over time.
Help us, Lord, to be satisfied in you.
