A Proverb a Day (24/31)

We are surrounded by people who are suffering, struggling, and seeking. Our communities are filled to overflowing with the helpless, hopeless, and heartbroken. How dare we ignore it? Solomon says, “Don’t think that you can claim ignorance when you stand before the Lord.” (Proverbs 24:12) We are to take action.

Rescue those who are being taken away to death; Hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. Proverbs 24:11

We need to rescue those who, through injustice or neglect, are suffering.

We need to hold back those who, through ignorance or poor choices, are stumbling down the road to destruction.

Regardless of how they got in the position they are in – we must care enough to take action.

“If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees. If hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.” (Charles Spurgeon)

We can never say that we didn’t know.
