Matthew 5:1-12
👉 Traits of Godly People
- poor in spirit (recognize their need for God)
- mourn (over their sin)
- meek (gentle)
- hunger and thirst for righteousness (seek first the kingdom)
- merciful (kind and forgiving)
- pure in heart (recognize and remove idols)
- peacemakers (seek peace and pursue it)
- persecuted (b/c of their faith)
These are traits of a godly person. These are the characteristics that please the Lord. Often, we want to be known and seen by people as popular or talented or powerful. We crave applause and seek the spotlight. We chase the wrong things and, when we get them, are still empty.
👉 Blessings for Godly People
- theirs is the kingdom of heaven
- they shall be comforted
- they shall inherit the earth
- they shall be satisfied
- they shall receive mercy
- they shall see God
- they shall be called sons of God
- theirs is the kingdom of heaven
👉 When we are mistreated b/c of our faith in Jesus
- rejoice and be glad
- remember our award is great in heaven
- we are in good company
