Jeremiah 27:1-22
👉 A group had come together to come up with a strategy for defending themselves against Babylon’s attack. Through Jeremiah – the Lord gave them a message – and this is what God wanted these men to know about Him.
- with great power and outstretched arm – God made the earth and all that is in it
- he would do with it as he saw fit because it’s his
- and he has chosen to give everything into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon
I made it. It’s mine. I’ll do what seems right to me (v 5).
Don’t you just love that?!
👉 The options are simple (v 8-11).
Submit to Nebuchadnezzar and live.
Refuse to submit and die.
The false prophets were all, “That will never happen.”
Jeremiah was telling them, “Yes, it will.”
And the Lord had the final word.
“They shall be carried to Babylon and remain there until the day when I visit them…then I will bring them back and restore them…”
Do you see it?
Disobedience would result in death. But obedience would result in restoration.
Yes, a bad thing was about to happen. Consequences for wrong choices were coming. But God… was not going to forget about them.
He was coming back for them and he was going to restore them at the proper time.
Don’t give up, friends. The Lord knows exactly where you are and he is the God of restoration.
You are loved.
