Revelation 18:1-24
Where we saw a spiritual Babylon in chapter 17 – we now see a commercial Babylon.
And look what the enemy is selling:
• luxurious living (v 3)
• lived in luxury (v 7)
• lived in luxury (v 9)
• luxury items (v 11-13)
• delicacies and splendor (v 14)
• wealth (v 15)
• fine linen, gold, jewels (v 16)
• rich (v 19)
Who wouldn’t want that? And we are told that “all nations were deceived” (v 23). The lure of luxury is strong.
👉 With the spiritual Babylon – the Lord said that it would require wisdom to navigate. I find it so interesting that – with this commercial Babylon full of deceptive wealth and luxury – the command is to “come out” (v 4).
Come out of it.
Don’t play with it.
Remove yourself from it.
Why? Because if you share in its sins – you will share in its suffering (v 4).
It’s not the first time that God’s people have been told to remove themselves from a dangerous situation.
• Isaiah 52:11
• Jeremiah 50:8
• Jeremiah 51:45
• 2 Corinthians 6:14
• Ephesians 5:11
We need to take the Word of God seriously.
All things call for wisdom.
Some things call for walking.
And – when God says, “Come out,” – we need to be quick to obey.
