Genesis 28
God promised Jacob that
• the land would be his (v 13)
• he would have multiple offspring (v 14)
• the Lord would be with him and keep him wherever he went (v 15)
• the Lord would not leave him (v 15)
And I love that God prefaced his promise with a reminder…
I am the Lord (v 13).
Sometimes, we just need to remind ourselves who it is that promises us these things in Scripture.
It is the Lord.
Hebrews 6:18 teaches us that it is impossible for God to lie. Impossible. Never going to happen.
So, when he says he loves you, he means it.
When he says that he isn’t going to ever leave you, he means it.
When he says that you’re forgiven, he means it.
When he says that you belong to him and no one can ever pluck you from his hand, he means it.
And – when he says that’s he’s returning for you and one day all of this mess will fade away and the glory will be so great that all of the “whys” you thought you would ask will seem irrelevant and not worth the time or energy – he means it.
He is the Lord.
It’s Friday, friends. Let’s rejoice and be glad in it.
