1 Corinthians 16
Have you ever experienced a really difficult season and thought you were doing something wrong? That you had misunderstood the Lord’s direction? That you were being punished?
Paul told the Corinthian church that he hoped to come to them soon but, for now, was staying in Ephesus. Why?
v 9
In Ephesus, there was a “wide door” {many opportunities} for “effective work” {fruitful labor, ministry}
AND – wait for it –
many adversaries {opposition, hardships, persecution, enemy attacks}.
👉 When we equate a life of faith with a life of ease – we struggle in times of suffering.
We can be faced with MANY adversaries and still be exactly where God wants us.
HOW DO WE HELP THOSE DOING MINISTRY (v 10-11)?
- Be welcoming
- Do not despise, reject, scorn, etc.
- Help them
PAUL’S FINAL INSTRUCTIONS
- Be alert
- Be firm in your faith
- Be courageous
- Be strong
- Be loving
