1 Corinthians 1:10-17 Make Much of the Cross

1 Corinthians 1:10-17

Paul wrote to the church in Corinth because the people were divided and quarreling. They had broken themselves off into groups based on who baptized them.

You have to love Paul’s response (v 14). “I thank God I didn’t baptize y’all!” Maybe that’s a paraphrase but he did not want to be a part of the “us vs them” mentality.

👉 Paul was clear on his calling.

Christ did not send him to baptize but to preach (v 17). Anytime we stray off course from what Christ has called us to do – we add unnecessary stress and drama to our lives. And ain’t nobody got time for that.

👉 True ministry will always make much of the cross (v 17).

Our job is not to build a following of men or to be a follower of men. It’s always and only about Christ.
