Isaiah 65
The idea of unconditional love is so foreign to many people. In a world where individuals are seen only as valuable as they are useful. Where favor can be given and taken away again on a whim.
We walk around hoping that if we look the right way, act the right way, say the right things, do the right things – just maybe – we will be loved and accepted.
👉 Y’all. This is not how God loves.
This is not how he operates. Not how he sees us. Not how His love works at all.
God said (v 1-2):
I was ready to be sought.
I was ready to be found.
Here I am.
Come to me.
And do you know who he was saying those things to (v 2-4)?
Rebellious people
People walking in a way that wasn’t good
People following their own devices
People provoking God to his face
👉 God made the first move.
The beauty of a God who loves first – who moves toward a rebellious and undeserving people – is that a love that wasn’t given based on our goodness can’t be maintained or lost based on our level of goodness.
It’s the beauty of the gospel.
👉 God shows his love for us in that WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).
Human love says, “I love you because you’re “this.”
God’s love says, “I love you because I love you.”
Loved people live differently.
Imagine living without any thought to earning love. Keeping love. Deserving love. Just living knowing you were loved.
That’s the life we have in Christ.
You are loved.
