Proverbs 13 The Importance of a Proper Diet

Proverbs 13

We have talked a couple of times here about the importance of our words. Proverbs has taught us that our words affect other people.

Proverbs 13 gives us some insight into how our words affect us as well!

From the fruit of his mouth a man eats what is good (v 2).

Proverbs 12:14 taught us that a man is satisfied from the fruit of his own mouth. Proverbs 18:20 says that a man’s stomach is satisfied by the fruit of his mouth. So we will feast on the fruit of our mouths. Think about that for a minute.

👉 Our words are like seeds that grow into fruit that we ourselves must eat.

Let’s make sure we have a diet of love, peace, patience, gentleness, kindness, faith, and self control. Those things are much more pleasing to the palate.
