Proverbs 1:8-19 Avoiding Evil

Proverbs 1:8-19

I worked this section a little backwards because, sometimes, that’s just the way my mind works.

Greed leads to destruction (v 19).

We can be greedy for all sorts of things – money, popularity, praise, acceptance, meaning.

And when we go out into the world with that need – that void – we become susceptible to anything. We become targets for those who:

• seek to do harm (v 16)
• promise earthly pleasures (v 13)
• delight in violence (v 12)
• persuade others to do wrong (v 11)

What, then, is the answer? How do we avoid these traps? How do our children avoid them?

By listening to and obeying godly instruction (v 8-9).

From parents. Spiritual mentors. Biblically sound preaching and teaching. By studying God’s Word.

Have a great Saturday, sweet friends. You are loved by the One who is love.
