Psalm 137

Babylon – the place of exile

Zion – the ultimate destination

Jerusalem – a reminder of the covenant between God and his people

The people are far from home. They long for the promised land. And they are refusing to forget that they belong to the Lord.

Lord, help us to remember you (v 5) and to hold you as our highest joy (v 6) even while living far from home (v 1).
