Psalm 124

David knew hardship. He knew trials and tribulations. He knew about failures and forgiveness. And he knew that, if the Lord had not been on his side, he would have never survived.

He knew that, if the Lord had not been on his side, he would have been:

• swallowed alive (v 3)
• swept away (v 4)
• overwhelmed and overcome (v 5)

Apart from the Lord, that would be all of our stories.

But, blessed be the Lord (v 6). Because of Him, we have:

• a way to escape (v 6)
• freedom (v 7)
• help (v 8)

The Lord defends and delivers. And he is on the side of his people.
