Psalm 119:81-88 Two Things to Remember in the Waiting

Psalm 119:81-88

My soul longs… v 81
My eyes long… v 82
I am wasting away… v 83
How long, O Lord… v 84

No doubt, some of us woke up feeling just like this. Longing for something. Looking for something. Wasting away with the waiting. Wondering how long it was going to last.

The psalmist didn’t have any answers to those questions. So he focused on what he knew. Two things that enabled him to wait well.

Two Things to Remember in the Waiting

  1. The enemy deals in falsehoods while the Lord deals in truth (v 86).

When the enemy says, “It’s all ruined” – the Lord says, “I make all things new.” When the enemy says, “You’re unlovable” – the Lord says, “I gave my Son for you.”

  1. The enemy deals in things of the earth, while the Lord deals in things of eternity (v 87-88).

For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison (2 Corinthians 4:17).
