Psalm 60
My heart often aches for the people around me. So much suffering. Too much pain. Unspeakable loss. Bitter betrayal. And I want to close my eyes to it all but I can’t.
“You have made your people see hard things” (vs 3.)
God’s people were experiencing rejection, brokenness, devastation, and vulnerability. And it was much of their own doing.
And, yet, God is so merciful that he also provided a place for them to flee (vs 4.)
It reminded me of Paul’s words to the Corinthians.
And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Cor 10:13
Life is hard. Sometimes from our own doing and, other times, not. But we always have a refuge in the Lord. We have a place to flee when the world is overwhelming.
