Psalm 39

Our words affect our witness – both good and bad.

David was experiencing the discipline of the Lord. He was adamant that he would not sin with his words against the Lord – and especially not in the presence of unbelievers.

This really made me think of my tendency to grumble when things don’t go my way. Complain when times are difficult. How ungrateful I often am and what a bad witness to the goodness of God.

Lord, help me to watch my words.
