A little bit closer.
The wind has a little chill to it today. The barns are beginning to smoke. The mums are beginning to grow.
It tells me that fall – that season I long for – is coming soon. This spring/summer has been a doozy for sure. All the uncertainty, confusion, isolation.
But, today, fall feels a little bit closer and, for now, that’s enough for me.
Some seasons are tougher than others. The losses larger. The burdens bigger. The steps slower. The pain more pronounced.
And, yet, every season we make it through brings us a little bit closer. When the sun rises yet again we can know that Jesus is a little bit closer.
Jesus – that face I long for – is a little bit closer. And, for now, that’s enough for me.
