Exodus 32
The people were fickle.
The people were forgetful.
The people were fast to forsake the truth.
I did a little math. To the best of my figuring, the children of Israel are about 92 days into their journey.
👉 Just to put it into perspective, how many days have you been on this COVID-19 / quarantine / social distancing / social unrest / murder hornet / coin shortage / pros and cons of masks / what world are we living in journey? (It’s day 129 for me.)
Has anyone else gotten a little weary of the waiting? Looking for something – anything – to lead the way out? Feeling a little fickle?
Anyone out there been caught up in the chaos of the moment? Has your gaze focused on the wrong thing? Perhaps, you have forgotten who is still holding the whole world in his hands?
Have you gotten distracted by the headlines / the what ifs / the loudest voice / the opinion of the day? Maybe you’ve drifted from what you know to be truth.
What is the answer to uncertainty? I’m glad you asked.
👉 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. (Joshua 1:7)
These were the instructions God gave Joshua when he was given the task of leading the children of Israel after Moses’ death.
Be courageous. (Don’t be fickle.)
Be careful to remember what you’ve been taught. (Don’t be forgetful.)
Be completely obedient. (Don’t be fast to forsake God’s Word.)
It’s a long journey. Just take the next step.
