This chapter deals with the garments of the priest. The clothing worn by the one entering the presence of the Lord mattered greatly.
We are reminded time and time again that the priest will be standing “before the Lord” (verses 12, 29, 30, 35, 38, 43.) As we saw in the previous chapter, it matters how we approach God.
As I read the detailed instructions regarding the garments of the priest, though, I was reminded of another set of garments.
“I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my soul shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness…” Isaiah 61:10
While Aaron and his sons appeared before the Lord in man made, priestly garments, we will stand before him garments of salvation. Clothed in the righteousness of Christ.
