A Proverb a Day (27/31)

“A man is tested by his praise.” Proverbs 27:21

Today’s proverb includes this verse on praise. There are two aspects to this.

1. What do we pride ourselves on? Our wealth? Education? Appearance? Good deeds?

“But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” Galatians 6:14

2. How do we respond to the praise of man? Do we become prideful or prayerful? People are fickle with their praise and, whatever we do to get it, we must continue doing to keep it.

Let’s seek to please God and let’s boast only in the cross.
