A Proverb a Day (21/31)

Many of us spend a lot of time talking about what needs to be done or what justice would look like. Many of us think that righteous living is all about denying ourselves certain pleasures or practices.

Today’s proverb teaches that God is more concerned with our doing than our self-denials or our soapbox stances.

“To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” Proverbs 21:3

“When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.” Proverbs 21:15

“The wicked refuse to do what is just.” Proverbs 21:7

The Lord isn’t impressed with our talking. He isn’t in need of our sacrifices. What he demands of his people is action.

Disciples are doers.
