The author of Proverbs has spent a lot of time talking about how we should and should not speak. And it continues on in Proverbs 17 as well (vs 27-28.)

There is also a verse today, however, regarding what we should or should not hear. Garbage in, garbage out. Gospel in, gospel out.

An evildoer listens to wicked lips, And a liar gives ear to a mischievous tongue. (Vs 4)

Who am I listening to? I should not even “give ear” to gossip, false teaching, or any talk that dishonors God. Would I feel comfortable saying it? If not, I shouldn’t feel comfortable hearing it.

Oh, be careful, little ears, what you hear. 🎶
