I worry so often about whether or not I’ve taught my kids enough. Do they know how to tie their shoes, manage their money, and scramble an egg? Can they read well, do mental math, and find their way home using a map?

And, while all of these things are important life skills, the father in this proverb mentions none of them.

I have taught you the way of wisdom.

I have led you in the paths of righteousness.

That is what matters. Help us, Lord, to not lose sight of our primary role.
