One of the enemy’s tricks is to convince us that we are whatever it is that we fear we are.
Unworthy. Unloved. Unwanted. Too much. Not enough. Weak. Inadequate. Incapable. Damaged. Broken. Used up. Too late.
He will point us to how people have treated us. He will set our sights on our circumstances. He will highlight our hardships. He will focus on our failures.
But do you know what Satan will never do? He will never guide us to God. He will never steer us to Scripture. Because he knows that the truth of who we are will be revealed.
The only thing that is true of us is what God says about us.
So, when I’m feeling unloved/unwanted/invisible etc., I have to recognize whose voice is speaking. If my view of myself stems from someone’s actions or indifference towards me, a trial I’m facing, a mistake I’ve made – there’s a really good chance that the enemy is trying to tell me who I am.
God’s Word is truth and every word is profitable for encouraging, teaching, reproving, etc. It reminds us that we are handmade by a holy God. That, yes, we fall short but that grace is available. That we are loved, cherished, and adored. That we are precious and protected by our Creator.
Jesus loves me. This I know, for the Bible tells me so.
