You are adored.

Because my peeps are all sick and Valentine’s Day is around the corner, here is a glimpse into the archives. Y’all are loved.

***

We tend to base our worth on what this ol’ world deems important. We strive to keep up with the ever changing standards of excellence and seem to always come up short. Do you know what happens when we look to the world for reassurance of our importance? Well, let me just tell you. Valentine’s Day comes along and you don’t have a significant other. You have to go to work or school or the grocery store and are bombarded with balloons and flowers and candy. You feel like you’re walking around with a neon sign hanging around your neck that says, Pity Party of Oneheart sugar cookie

Listen up! There is no lonely hearts club in the body of Christ. God sent His Son because He desired YOU. His love for you is lavish and downright scandalous. When you fall, His love reaches down. When you are broken, His love comes running. When you are weak, His love holds you up. You have an admirer and it is not secret.

The King of love my Shepherd is,
Whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am His
And He is mine forever. ~Henry William Baker

Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. That’s why those antique shows are so baffling to me. Someone finds a broken whatchamacallit buried in a bunch of other thingamabobbies and it turns out to be worth a fortune. Well, it’s only worth that much because someone sees that much value in it and is willing to pay an obscene amount of money for it.

You are worth what someone was willing to pay for you. And God paid dearly. He paid too much for you to walk around hanging your head because your relationship status isn’t what you thought it would be or what someone else thinks it should be. I can speak this hard truth because I have been that sad sack moping around!

Go out and celebrate, today! Buy yourself some chocolate. Buy yourself some pretty flowers, put them in a vase and every time you walk by them, say out loud:

My beloved is mine, and I am his – Song of Solomon 2:16
