What do you mean we are only four days into Summer?

Sure, you woke up this morning to find that you forgot to play the tooth fairy last night {that is gonna cost you,} you are down to a half a roll of toilet paper for a household of six {guess you’re getting dressed, today} and your kids are all bored by 8:00 a.m. {anyone else remember being booted out of the house to ride your bike and told not to come back until lunch time?} And, if none of these things have happened to you, today, then you’re doing better than I am.

Yes, it’s summertime and the countdown to the weekend is meaningless because is Friday really all that different from Wednesday when you have to entertain little people for twelve hours a day?  Repeat after me: Pinterest is my friend. It’s true that you have to dig through the pins of the overachievers who create Disney characters out of Jello and throw elaborate tea parties complete with crumpets and big hats. BUT, there are wonderful little gems like Straw Games. Straws, people. I think we can all handle that. Last night, the hubs and I resorted to “who can fit the most marshmallows in their mouth.” It’s getting serious around here, people.

The kids are only kids once and summer is only – okay, technically, summer is going to come around again and again and – well, let’s not focus on that. Let’s focus on fun, instead. Shall we?

There is so much on the internet during the summer about moms and bathing suits. So much encouragement to just put on the suit, put off your insecurities and enjoy yourself. Well, I did just that last week. A spur of the moment trip to a pool meant all I had to work with was an 8 month pregnant belly and an itty bitty teeny weeny yellow polka dot – ok, not really. It wasn’t all that itty bitty and it certainly was not a bikini. It also, however, was not a maternity bathing suit. So, I’m pretty sure I ended up on someone’s Facebook wall with the caption, “Oh, no, she didn’t.” But, I did.

So, here we are on this lovely Wednesday and my encouragement to you is just to keep calm and mommy on.

You are loved!

keep calm
