God has a plan.

rainy daySometimes, I feel lost. I struggle to understand my purpose. I’m not sure where I belong or who is on my side or if, perhaps, I fell off track way back and am miles away from where I am supposed to be at this point in my life. I long, for just a moment, to peek behind the curtain and see what exactly God had planned for me. But, then again, that kind of scares me because what if I have totally missed it?

But when God, who from my birth set me apart and called me by His grace… – Galatians 1:15

When he set me apart and called me – what did he see? What did he see in me? And, more importantly, does he still see it?

Because, at times, all I see are my failures. Satan is quick to point out every mistake and every loss until they seem overwhelming. The truth is that life rarely works out the way we had planned and that does not have to, necessarily, be a good or a bad thing. It just is.

Your life probably does not look how you thought it would look at this point.

Maybe, you are not doing what you thought you would be doing.

Maybe, you are still fighting battles you thought would be long over.

Maybe, people have walked away whom you thought would always be by your side.

I get it. I really do.

Here is the thing. Our God created each of us with a plan in mind – a good plan. A plan born out of his love for us. One that is not subject to Fencechange based on our mistakes or someone else’e offense toward us. We do God a great disservice when we compare his ability to plan our lives with our feeble attempts to guide our own steps. He knows what he is doing and that thing he is doing is good.

I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. – Philippians 1:6

It is not over until God says that it’s over. This thing does not end here in the wilderness. And, so, we carry on. God has a plan and it is good. You may look around and wonder what happened. You may think that you are lost or, at the very least, taking the really long way around. But God knows exactly where you are and he knew you were going to be there long before you ever showed up.

  1. I think we all go through this sometimes, and it can help just to know someone else has been there. Thank you for reminding us that we’re probably more “on track” with God’s plan than we often think we are.
