A Rainy Day Promise

There are not many things in this life that you can really count on.

Sure, you always have the heart-healing power of chocolate and the fact that my dad will always have a little black comb in the pocket of his blue jeans. But, for the most part, this world is a shaky place.

We say things like, “never say never” and “Lord willing.”  We pretend like we are okay with the uncertainty of it all.

I, for one, am not okay with the uncertainty of it all. I like assurances. I want me some promises. I know you understand.

It does my heart good to know that I serve a God who uses words like “never” and “always.” Friends can be fickle, but there is no shadow of turning with Him. He is changeless and steady. When He says “forever,” you do not need a plan B.

It’s a rainy Thursday morning here and maybe, like me, you need a little reminder that our God’s Word is certain and sure. If you are currently walking on unsteady ground or are wounded over a broken promise, may I remind you that we have a great Promise Keeper?

God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” – Hebrews 13:5

That is His promise. And you can take that one to the bank.
