Snow Day!

Snow day 1One of my very favorite things about homeschooling is the freedom we have to live life at a slower pace and enjoy the world around us. This morning, for instance, I tried to teach. Really, I did. The snow outside our door, however, beckoned and we answered the call.

We talked about the One who made the snow and what an awesomely creative God we serve.

He spreads snow like wool;
He scatters frost like ashes; – Psalm 147:16

Don’t you know that, when He was dreaming up and creating snow, that He could see little ones giggling as they made snow angels?

Can’t you see Him smiling as they spin around and around trying to catch the flakes on their tongues? Don’t you hear Him chuckling to Himself and saying, I knew they would try that! Gosh, I love Him so.snow day 2

Life can deal out some pretty harsh blows and, if we aren’t careful, we move our gaze. We become obsessed with the trials around us. It’s a dangerous thing because, when we take our eyes off of Christ,  everything seems hard and nothing seems holy. But, then – Oh, then – God spreads out the snow like wool and reminds us that everything is under His control.

I’ll be the first to admit that I am terribly guilty of losing focus. I become overwhelmed by the mountain and forget about the Master and I know better. I listen to the snake instead of the Savior and I could just kick myself every time.

Maybe you need, like I did this week, a little reminder of Who is in control. If so, can I just remind you that it is Him?
