When I was younger, I was obsessed with the Christmas season. I could tell you, in the middle of June, exactly how many days there were until Christmas day. The decorations, the music, the cold weather – I loved it all.
Then, just a couple days ago, my daughter asked me how many days were left until Christmas. I didn’t know. You see, I’ve grown up. Life just gets messier as you get older, doesn’t it? The “countdown to Christmas” is more about how many paychecks are left between now and then. It’s about how many presents are left to buy and what casseroles you’re going to bring to so-and-so’s house and hoping everyone behaves themselves at the family get together.
If we aren’t careful, we can miss the magic of Christmas. I know that I almost did.
