A Journey to be Christ-Like

I have worried when I should have rested.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28 NIV

I have been anxious when I should have rejoiced.

I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. – Psalm 9:2 NIV

I have been angry when I should have been forgiving.

Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools. – Ecclesiastes 7:9 NIV

I have played the victim when I am called to be a conquerer.

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. – Romans 8:37 NIV

I have felt undesirable, though I am desired by the King.

The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord. – Psalm 45:11 NIV

I have feared when I should have trusted.

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear… – Romans 8:15 NIV

I have fallen many times in this journey to become like Christ.  But He does not give up on me.

People can walk away.  They can give all they have to give.  They can be emptied of their strength and patience and sympathy.  They are, after all, only human.

But God…He is limitless in His power, His love and His faithfulness.  He will not let me go.  He will not walk away.  He will not give up until I am molded into the image of His Son.  He has, after all, sacrificed a great deal for me.
