We need to know He hears us. And, when whispered pleas for mercy seem to go unanswered, we wonder if we should even keep praying. How do we know if the answer is “no” or “not yet.” It’s all very confusing until we pick up His Word and let Him speak.
Before I had finished praying in my heart, there was Rebekah… – Genesis 24:45 HCSB
It’s hard for us to fathom…that He has answered our prayer before we have even finished praying it. Time is so different for Him. He is not overwhelmed by the ticking of the clock.
He feels no panic at the passing of years.
The nature of our request or need doesn’t matter. In Him, it has already been answered. Maybe the answer is “yes”…maybe not. But, we don’t need to feel ignored. The silence, instead, is an indication that there is nothing that needs to be handled. It has already been tended to and we no longer need to carry the weight of worry.
Before it is ever whispered through weary lips, He already knows. When it is still a silent hope hidden deep in the heart, He has already answered.
…but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. – Matthew 6:32 NLT
So, we continue on still not knowing if the answer is “no” or “not yet.” We realize, however, that it does not matter. What matters is that He has already taken care of it.
Seek the Kingdom of God, He says. And I will give you everything you need.
Time ticks on. When opportunities pass and disappointment tries to take over, we can trust in One who is the very author of the entire story. God is in control of time and He is aware of every second that ticks away.
