What kind of inheritance are you expecting? Unlike the movies, not many of us have a mysterious rich relative that passes away and chooses to bestow their wealth upon us.
As for me, I tease my father that he has already spent my inheritance on his vast collection of Harley t-shirts and motorcycle chrome. Instead, he has passed on to me his love of ice cream and country music and I’m totally cool with that.
As Christ-followers, we are promised an inheritance. And our inheritance? It’s beautiful.
Indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. – Psalm 16:6
Our inheritance is Christ Himself. It is His very presence that is promised to us. And in His presence? There is some serious joy.
…in Your presence there is fullness of joy. – Psalm 16:11
The joy we have here – the kind we fight to hold onto in the midst of painful trials – will not compare to the fullness of joy found in His presence. His joy is abundant and overflowing and satisfying.
Complete joy is in His presence. His very presence is our inheritance. And it. is. beautiful.
