A God of His Word

Sometimes it is hard to see.

The battle raging around us affects our vision and we fail to see Him at work.  We all do it.  We focus on the things physically in front of us and lose sight of things eternal.

But, what good is faith if it does not look beyond our current storm?

Now faith is the reality of what it hoped for, the proof of what is not seen. – Hebrews 11:1 HCSB

Faith demands that, in the face of loss or devastation, we say, “God promised…”  And that becomes our focus.

As a woman prepares to give birth, it is recommended that she bring something on which to focus.  A picture of something pleasant, a favorite vacation spot, a calming image – anything to help her look beyond the pain. There is pain we can not escape.  We live in a broken world and we all walk around with sin-scraped knees. But, faith says focus on Him.

No matter what our circumstances say, we can trust Him to do as He has promised.

There are some things that we will only understand looking back.  Our legacy as believers will be to tell others, as did Caleb, that our God was faithful.

As you can see, the Lord has kept me alive these 45 years as He promised – Joshua 14:10 HCSB

Caleb was nearing the end of his life.  He was 85 years old and had lived through so many battles and trials with the children of Israel.  Being human as we are, there had to be times when he wondered how God was going to work things out.  Yet, in the end, his testimony was to the faithfulness of his God.

There is no way to know what a day may hold.  Maybe it’s an answered prayer or an unexpected blessing.  Or maybe it’s the phone call you never thought you would receive, an unexpected loss or the reopening of an old wound.  Whatever the case may be, we must keep our focus on Him and keep our faith on things unseen.

Then, when it is all said and done, we can look back and tell others that God did as He promised.
