All Glory His

We have all done it.

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, approached Him and said, “Teacher, we want You to do something for us if we ask You.” – Mark 10:35 HCSB

We have entered into His presence and made it all about us.  We have tainted the sacred with shameless self-promotion.

We have been so bold as to ask for glory.

Allow us to sit at Your right and at Your left in Your glory. – Mark 10:37 HCSB

Not just any glory, mind you, but His glory.  That is what we are doing in this look-at-me world that we live in today.  Be my friend.  Be my follower.  Read my book.  Hear me speak.  Come on, people, you know that you want to look at me.

When we grasp for glory – we are stealing it from Him.  For He is the only One worthy.

The Lamb who was slaughtered is worthy to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing. – Revelation 5:12 HCSB

My prayer is that, when we approach Him, we will do so with a desire to give glory and not receive it.  I pray that we would lift Him high and climb off of the pedestals we have made for ourselves.  Because if our self-worth is tied up in us – great will be our fall.

But if it’s all about Christ and Him glorified – even when we slip and scrape our knees and mess up – we can get back up and keep moving because all eyes are on Him anyway.
