I’m starting in the beginning.

And what I am finding is that I have been overly critical when it comes to Eve’s lapse in judgement.  See, really all the serpent did was to move her gaze.  He caused her to look away from all that God had provided…all the beauty that He had placed before her.

The serpent caused her to focus on the one thing she did not have.

I can hear the evil whispers that must have made their way into her ears.  Look at what you do not have.  You can not possibly be happy without that.  God…He’s holding out on you.

And I want to be there to speak to her.  I want to tell her to open her eyes for cryin’ out loud.  Look at everything God has given to you.

Yet, I realize that is the same tactic Satan uses on women today.  What is that one thing?  That something that you would love to have or be or do?  Do you feel as if you simply could not be happy unless you have it?  Does it seem to you as if God is holding out on you?

My prayer for this year is that I will be aware.  I will be aware of Satan’s tricks and recognize it as his voice whispering discontent in my ear.  And, on the flip side, that I will be aware of God and His Word – that I will be so close to Him that I will recognize when it is Him speaking to me.

So, that is my word for 2011 – Aware.
