Created for Another World

I have always loved Moses…baby in a basket, raised by pharoah’s daughter, talked to God in a burning bush, slow of speech, yet called by God to speak to pharoah…there is just so much to love about Moses.

My favorite thing, however, is the relationship Moses had with the Lord…

So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend… – Exodus 33:11

I have always just been in awe of that…that a person could speak to the Lord face to face…as a friend, no less.  I’ve always thought that Moses would be one of the first people I would want to see when I got to heaven…Moses, what was it like?  To speak to the Lord face-to-face?

Then, as I was studying the book of Job and looking for my new verse to memorize for the Beth Moore challenge…I came across an amazing verse…

…That in my flesh I shall see God, Whom I shall see for myself, and not another.  How my heart yearns within me!  – Job 19:26-27

I shall see God one day…face to face….with my own eyes…

What a day that will be

When my Jesus I shall see

When I look upon His face

The One who saved me by His grace

When He takes me by the hand

And leads me through the Promised Land

What a day, glorious day, that will be

God created us with a longing in our souls.  We are told that He has put eternity in our hearts.  We were not created to be satisfied with this world.

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance. And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth.  People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own.  – Hebrews 11:13-14 NIV

This is not our home…We should be longing for something more.  God created us that way.

“If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world. If none of my earthly pleasures satisfy it, that does not prove that the universe is a fraud. Probably earthly pleasures were never meant to satisfy it, but only to arouse it, to suggest the real thing. If that is so, I must take care, on the one hand, never to despise, or be unthankful for, these earthly blessings, and on the other, never to mistake them for the something else of which they are only a kind of copy, or echo, or mirage. I must keep alive in myself the desire for my true country, which I shall not find till after death; I must never let it get snowed under or turned aside; I must make it the main object of life to press on to that other country and to help others to do the same.”

  1. Talking to someone via the phone, by email, by letter is all good. But seeing someone face to face is totally different. You can see the love in their eyes, the expressions on their face, their attentiveness.

I am looking forward to the day when our faith will become sight. Come Lord Jesus, come.

    Blessings – Lisa
