The faith of a child…

Just the other night, Emily was in her bedroom and I could hear her talking.  She often talks to herself, or sings songs, or plays in bed…but, for some reason, I went into the room to see what she was doing…

~~~~~
Me:  Emily, what are you doing?
Emily:  Just talking to God.
Me:  What are you talking to God about?
Emily:  Well, I was afraid because my room was dark, so I asked Him to help me not be afraid.  So, then I wasn’t afraid anymore, but we just kept talking.
~~~~~

The more I thought about it…the more it amazed me.

1. I was afraid.

2. I asked God to help me not be afraid.

3.  I wasn’t afraid anymore.

~~~~~
Could it be any simpler?  The circumstance had not changed.  Her room was still dark.  But, she believed that God would take away her fear.
Months and months ago…I taught her Psalm 56:3.
When I am afraid, I will trust in You.
I taught her that verse because she went through a period of being very afraid of the rain.  This verse brought her such comfort that, without any guidance from me, she has applied the verse to other things that frighten her.
She is only 4 years old…and her faith is growing.
I assure you: Whoever does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.  – Mark 10:15
  1. Yep, all those things you listed were amazing. 🙂 I was most amazed by #4, though.
    ” . . . but we just kept talking.” 🙂
    We don’t need to stop talking to him once we get our answer. We can keep going and going and going.
