So often, I find myself amazed with the awesome power of our God…and rightly so. We serve an amazing, all-powerful, all-knowing, omnipotent and omnipresent God.
However, when I read these verses…I found myself in awe of, not the ability of God, but the willingness of God…the willingness to have compassion on us and cleanse us as only He can.
Then a man with a serious skin disease came to Him and, on his knees, begged Him: “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”
Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out His hand and touched him. “I am willing,” He told him. “Be made clean.” – Mark 1:40-41 HCSB
I think this is an issue for many people. We do not doubt the holiness of God or the power of God. Yet…sometimes… we question whether or not He would be willing to cleanse us…willing to forgive us of that same failing once again…willing to speak to us even though we have ignored Him over and over in the past.
Jesus was moved with compassion and He said I am willing. I just love that. It reminded me of this verse in Hebrews:
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses…Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. – Hebrews 4:15-16 NKJV
Because we know He is able…we can come to Him. Because we know He is willing…we can come boldly.
